Metal artist Angela Serricca looks forward to displaying her beautifully crafted wearable art jewelry at this year’s juried Pocono State Craft Festival in Stroudsburg, PA on August 25-26, 2018.

Serricca Studios Specializes in Wearable Art

Angela Serricca, founder of Serricca Studios, displays a wide variety of wearable art on her website. This artwork includes necklaces, rings, bracelets, and earrings. While offering individual jewelry pieces for sale, she also offers special collections of coordinating sets as part of her repertoire.

Her body of work focuses on hand-cut copper jewelry featuring “pop-up” elements to create “dimensional works of wearable artistic expression.” Angela’s work is handmade by using sawing, forming, enameling and patina techniques, as well as explorations in photo-etching, enamel decal and watercoloring processes.

Not only does Angela create wearable art that expresses her individual artistic vision, but she also enjoys designing custom-made pieces by catering to her clients’ desires. From simple hand-cut shapes to elaborate and complex sculptural pieces, each custom piece involves input and interaction by both parties every step of the design process to the finished piece.

What is a Juried Festival?

The Pocono State Craft Festival is a very special event.  The Pocono Arts Council and the Pocono Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen are co-hosts for this juried festival.  A “juried” festival has a designated panel of professionals who very carefully select artisans and craftspeople to occupy limited exhibit space.

An aspiring exhibitor must apply in order to be considered by the jury panel.  Applications require sample images of work, an image of the display and an artist statement. All applications are reviewed by the designated jury panel before deciding which applicants are invited to participate.

According to the Pocono State Craft Festival’s website, the jury deadline for 2018 exhibitors had ended, and “new applications will be reviewed and filled on a rolling basis.”  In fact, the 2017 festival was overwhelmed with applications, resulting in a long waiting list.  Two jury panel members for this year’s festival approached Angela Serricca at another recent event. Impressed with her work and presentation, they strongly suggested that she apply to the 2018 Pocono Festival, despite its deadline.  That was an honor that she did not take lightly. It was an opportunity to exhibit among some of the “finest artists and craftspeople from across the United States.”

About the Pocono State Craft Festival

The festival’s website mentions Stroudsburg attracts a wide variety of visitors, including affluent tourists, vacation homeowners, and local residents. The out-of-town guests include residents from Allentown, Philadelphia, Scranton, New York City and New Jersey. In fact, the festival contributes to the doubling of Monroe County’s population on that weekend.

The Pocono State Craft Festival takes place at a working farm called The Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm.  Since the first festival in 1986, this rural setting has enjoyed a reputation for being “a destination for the discerning collector of quality art and fine crafts”. In addition to viewing the beautiful art on display, guests will enjoy music by the best regional musicians.
