About “Your Berks Craftsmen”

“Your Berks Craftsmen” is a show operated by BCTV (Berks Community Television). It features a new one-hour long artist interview each month and is aired several times throughout the month.

BCTV is a local nonprofit community media organization that receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts. The show is also supported by the Kutztown Folk Festival as well as the Reading-Berks Chapter of the PA Guild of Craftsmen.

Serricca Studios Featured in August

Angela Serricca is a jewelry artist who designs and creates wearable works of art for personal adornment. In 2015, she started an art business called Serricca Studios. Since then, she has been selling her work at local craft festivals and shows, as well as online.

As a member of the Reading-Berks Chapter, Angela was selected to be the August 2020 Featured Artist of “Your Berks Craftsmen”. This program first airs Wednesday, August 19, 2020, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm.

Angela became a member of the guild in July 2018. Subsequently, she chose Reading-Berks as her local chapter in April 2019. After that, she earned her “Juried Member” Certificate five months following. Later that year, she participated in the 70th Holiday Fine Art and Craft Festival, held annually at Kutztown University.

With the help of Zoom and the BCTV staff, host Kay Bennecoff takes you on a virtual visit of Angela’s private studio. You will get to know more about the artist and her creative process. Angela Serricca discusses and demonstrates her techniques used to make her handcrafted jewelry.

The Artist and Artwork

Learn about Angela’s art and business influences and experiences. Find out what she is creating in her studio today, as well as what new product offerings may become available in time for the holidays.

Each piece starts with the “Piercing and Sawing” technique. With a mini tabletop drill press and a jeweler’s saw, Angela hand-cuts and forms each “pop-up” design. Watch as she demonstrates this and other techniques. Enjoy seeing completed pieces that feature all her available options. For example, the hammered texture, black patina, green patina, enamel or the watercolor enamel surface finishes.

It takes many steps to achieve a finalized piece of wearable art jewelry. Angela discusses her process, start to finish. She even shares simple copper cleaning tricks using everyday household products.

The online shop of Serricca Studios offers earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. Browse the website’s collections by surface finish type or by the flower name. All work features the signature “pop-up” style design elements inspired by nature.

In addition, Angela also provides custom order services that feature her signature style. Therefore, Angela also shows and explains examples of completed custom work during this interview. Clients can add a personalized touch to their piece. The many finishes and nature inspired design options allow for endless creativity.

In conclusion, if you would like to learn more about this artist and her work then this show is for you.
